Andy Bellefleur

True Blood

Andy doesn’t know that Sam is a shifter.

 Book

Sam does reveal that he is a shifter but not until, Dead and Gone.

True blood

Andy starts to worry about Jason’s absence at work.

Book

Jason’s boss, Shirley Hennessey, called Sookie to complain that he can’t find Jason and he didn’t show up for work.  This prompts Sookie to worry about her brother.

 

Bill Compton

True Blood

Bill sentences a vampire who is filmed feeding off a human to his true death.

Book

Bill doesn’t send anyone to their “true death” so far in the books.

 

Claudine

True Blood

Claudine is killed by Erik.

Book

Claudine doesn’t die in the books until, Dead and Gone.  She is pregnant and is killed protecting Sookie in the hospital.

Debbie Pelt

True blood

She is back with Alcide and has kicked her addiction to vampire blood.  She even tries to make amends to Sookie for her actions.

Book

She is the girl Alcide can’t seem to kick at the start of the story.  However her true colors show by the end when her involvement in Bill’s torture is revealed.  Debbie didn’t have a vampire blood addiction. Debbie doesn’t like Sookie and even tries to kill her at the end of the book.

Eric

True Blood

Erik sleeps alone the first night in Sookie’s house.

Book

Erik cuddles with Sookie in her bed.  She falls asleep holding his hand.

True blood

Erik’s “cubby” at Sookie’s house is elegant and rather large.

Book

The “cubby”, that was first Bill’s was not filled with frills like the one in the show.

 

Jason

True blood

Jason is forced to impregnate the women of hotshot.

Book

Jason only gets Crystal pregnant and that was by choice.

 

Jessica Hamby and Hoyt Fortenberry

True Blood

Jessica deals with the dilemma of feeding on another man behind Hoyt’s back.  She eventually tells him which leads to Hoyt having a typical reaction to being cheated on.  Jessica erases the memory out of Hoyt’s mind to save their relationship.

Book

Jessica’s dilemma about feeding on other men behind Hoyt’s back didn’t happen since Jessica is not part of the books.  However, the issue of dating a vampire who feeds on other people is dealt with in the books.  One of the best examples is in Living Dead in Dallas when Sookie deals with Bill feeding on other people.

 

Lafayette, Tara and Jesus

 True blood

Lafayette, Tara and Jesus are involved with the witches.

 Book

Lafayette died in Living Dead in Dallas so he can’t be in this plot in the book.  Tara is still in the books but doesn’t get involved with the witches.  Jesus is not in the books so far.

True Blood

Layette goes to Fantasia to apologize and beg for mercy for his part on casting a spell on Erik.  Lafayette, Tara and Jesus agree to help reverse the spell when Pam threatens them.

Book

This didn’t happen in the book, Dead to the World.

Maxine Fortenberry and Tommy Mickens

 True blood

Her land is on a natural gas deposit which is worth a lot of money.  Sam’s brother, Tommy, wants to buy her home to cash in on natural gas.

Book

This was not a plot in, Dead to the world. 

Pam

True blood

Pam goes to visit Erik at Sookie’s house when he loses his memory

Book

Pam doesn’t come to see Erik the fist night.  It was too close to daylight for her to make the trip.

 True blood

Pam goes alone to see Sookie and Erik after he loses his memory.

book

Pam and Chow come to see Erik who has lost his memory.  Jason stops by in the middle of the meeting. 

True blood

Pam becomes aggressive towards Sookie in the meeting at her house. Erik see’s it and protects her before she can do anything.

Book

Pam doesn’t do this to Sookie.  Pam and Sookie are friends in the books.

Sookie Stackhouse

True Blood

Sookie goes to see Alcide to ask for help taking care of Erik.

 Book

Sookie does go see Alcide, but to warn him of the coven of witches.  One of the coven members is a shifter.  She does tell him about Erik but it’s not the point of the visit.

True blood

Sookie asks for money for protecting Erik in her home.

Book

Jason demands that Pam pay Sookie for protecting Erik.

Miscellaneous

True blood

The people of hotshot tell the folk story of how the first person became a werepanther.

Book

We learn many of the traditions and background of the werepanther but the folklore isn’t there.

True blood

A vampire is filmed feeding off a human and is put on YouTube.

Book

The vampire feeding on a human being posted on you tube didn’t happen in the book

True blood

A creepy doll is given to baby Mikey.  It is not clear what it is or how it will play in the story line.

Book

The doll hasn’t appeared in the books so far.
